A motor vehicle propeller shaft support device (8) has a support bearing (19) which is mounted on the propeller shaft (5) and which rests in a support bearing retainer (9) fastened in the vehicle's chassis, whereby lower and upper support bearing clamps (11,12) together surround the support bearing in the circumferential direction and one of them is connected to the chassis. The lower support bearing clamp (11) supports the support bearing (19) from below and can be fitted in various angular positions about a centreline (17) transverse to the longitudinal direction of the chassis in order to adapt the orientation of the propeller shaft. The upper support bearing clamp (12) locks the support bearing from above to the lower support bearing clamp.
