A digital camera comprising an imaging section, a built-in memory, a loading section where a storage medium is loaded, a medium detecting section for judging if the storage medium loaded in the loading section is a rewrite-limitation storage medium, and a recording control section for carrying out control so as to store the data on the image captured by the imaging section in the storage medium loaded in the loading section. The recording control section carries out control, when a rewrite-limitation storage medium is detected that it is loaded in the loading section, so as to store in the built-in memory the data management information on the image data recorded in the rewrite-limitation storage medium.
