The invention relates to a converter and method for determination of a current sinor for a converter operated with pulse width modulation, comprising a signal electronic circuit and a power end-stage with a power circuit arranged as three half-bridges each divided into a lower and an upper branch. Means for determining the instantaneous current are arranged in either all three of the lower or all three of the upper branches of the half-bridges, at least one corresponding measured current value is recorded by two of the three means of determining current within a timespan and a current sinor is generated, or the current values in the output branches are generated from said current measured values, measured by the pair of current determination means, in particular for use in a control and/or regulation method. Said pair of means are variously selected depending on the output voltage sinor.
