Apparatus for arresting bleeding in a body cavity comprising a delivery means (100) and an inflatable non-elastomeric balloon (3) connectable to the delivery means (100), wherein the apparatus includes at least one pressure control means (7) for automatically controlling inflation of the balloon so that the balloon can be inflated to a predetermined pressure; characterised in that the delivery means comprises an inflation line (4) and the pressure control means (7) is provided as a unit separate from, but connectable to, the inflation line (4).
