The invention concerns a method for treating wood with an impregnating product. Said method is characterised in that it comprises a step which consists in treating the wood to be heat-impregnated at a temperature higher than 220 DEG C, so as to decompose the hemicelluloses thereof, followed by a step which consists in immersing said wood in a liquid bath, consisting of the impregnating product, which is at a temperature lower than the temperature of the wood derived from the heating step.
