The invention relates to an interior covering element for a vehicle and to a method for producing the same. According to the invention, said interior covering element (1) for a vehicle comprises the following: a rigid insert (3), which gives the element its shape; a lining sheet (11) consisting of a textile material or similar and covering the rigid insert; a foam layer (13, 14) which is arranged between the rigid insert and the lining sheet and which is subdivided into a first sub-layer and a second sub-layer, such as a first sub-layer (13) which mainly has open cells and is arranged between the lining sheet and the second sub-layer and a second sub-layer (14) consisting of a polyolefinic thermoplastic material(s), which mainly has closed cells and is arranged between the insert and the first sub-layer. The appearance, texture and sound of the element are improved as a result.
