A valve device, wherein a pilot flow amplifying type poppet valve (42) is fitted slidably into a valve housing (40), a damping pressure chamber (61) having a volume varying according to the displacement of the poppet valve (42) is provided between the valve housing (40) and the poppet valve (42), in addition, as a resistance providing part which provides a resistance to a fluid moving between the inside and outside of the damping chamber according to a variation in an internal volume of the damping pressure chamber (61), a clearance (66) is provided between a small diameter part (63) of the poppet valve (42) and an annular projected part (65) on the valve housing (40) side and, according to a variation in volume of the damping pressure chamber (61) caused when the poppet valve (42) is moved, a resistance is provided, by the clearance (66), to the fluid flowing into and out of the damping pressure chamber (61) to provide a damping function to the poppet valve (42), whereby a hunting can be prevented from occurring so as to stabilize the operation of the poppet valve (42).
