The invention relates to an automated gear-shift system for a motor vehicle with an internal combustion engine (2) and a gearbox (4). Said transmission (4) is provided with a countershaft (7) and a plurality of gear steps (I, II, III, IV). The countershaft is mounted in parallel to an output shaft (5). A synchronization device (9, 10, 11) is allocated to a respective gear step (I, II, IV). One gear step (III) is allocated to a friction clutch (12) instead of the synchronization device. A machine (13) is provided that is functionally linked with the output shaft (5) or the countershaft (7) for traction assistance during the gear-shift process.
