The present invention relates to a tool for machining materials, mainly a grinding tool, wherein said tool comprises a body (11) as well as a plurality of machining areas (14) arranged on a leading circle of the tool body (11) and having a machining profile (23) for the profiled machining of a workpiece. The machining profile (23) of the machining areas (14) is continuous in the direction of the longitudinal axis (24) of the profile, and the machining areas are arranged on the leading circle (16) so that the longitudinal axis of the profile intersects the leading circle.
