A ventilation characteristic measuring device, comprising a ventilation container (401) comprising first, second, and third cylindrical containers (430, 440, 450) which are fitted air-tight and detachably from each other and a lifting device (460) which raises and lowers the third cylindrical container relative to the first and second cylindrical containers, wherein three sealed compartments are formed by the first, second, and third cylindrical containers and a specimen holding member (472) of a specimen holding device (470) installed on each of these containers and, when a first sealed compartment for cigarettes on the filter side is vented, the ventilation characteristic of cigarette is measured based on the flow rate of air flowing into a filter arranged in the second sealed chamber and each of the cigarettes arranged in the third sealed chamber.
