The invention relates to a screw cap (1) for bottles (2) in which a partially elastic sealing strip (8) is provided for being placed on the front face (11) or on an outer periphery of the bottle neck (6). When the screw cap (1) is screwed on said bottle (2), the sealing strip (8), due to the partial elasticity thereof, can be displaced from the bottle neck (6) when the pressure inside the bottle (2) reaches a predetermined level. The sealing strip (8) lies on the bottle neck (6) again after the pressure falls below a certain level. As a result, a long-lasting leakage of the screw cap (1) is prevented.
