The invention relates to a toothed gear box comprising at least one toothed wheel (7) mounted on a gearbox shaft (3) by means of a needle bearing. Said toothed wheel can be coupled to the gear box shaft (3) via a coupling element (8), wherein needles (12) are arranged in a roller bearing cage (11) radially in-between an inner running path allocated to the gear box shaft (3) and an external running path assigned to a hub of the toothed wheel (7). The invention is characterized in that at least the rolling surface of the bearing needles (12) is provided with a protective phosphate coating. The protective phosphate coatings on the rolling surface of the bearing needles (12) enable rippling to be avoided.
