This life saving invention relates to a simple, painless and easy method to stop smoking in a very easy way, almost unnoticed and also to a comfortable treatment of addictions and detoxication with the help of sex steroid precursors, like dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) or dehydroepiandrosteronesulfate (DHEAS) or an analogue thereof like (n)-alphafluoro- or bromo-epiandrosterone and also compounds destinated to be converted in vivo to either of the foregoing precursors. These precursors can with positive result, according to this invention, be brought into the blood for treatment of an addiction, like for instance as mentioned: the addiction to nicotine. The invention relates as well to the use of dehydroepiandrosterone or dehydroepiandrosteronesulfate or an analogue thereof like (n)-alphafluoro- or bromo-epiandrosterone and also compounds destinated to be converted in vivo to either of the foregoing precursors, for obtaining c.q. manufacturing a medicine, mentioned to bring in any way whatsoever, into the blood of a user of addictive substances, for therapeutical treatment of an addiction, like for instance: the addiction to nicotine, referring to the method and product as: "Wise Man's Brand" or WMB 97.
