This invention relates to an angioplasty device (10) that is formed from a hollow metallic tube (20), a balloon (30) affixed adjacent the distal end of the tube (20) and being in fluid communication with the lumen (22) of the tube (20), a flexible distal segment connected to the distal end of the tube and a removable hub (40) connected adjacent to the proximal end of the tube (20). The tube (20) is preferably formed from a superelastic material such as nickel-titanium alloy. This invention also relates to various methods of using this angioplasty device (10).
