The invention relates to a method and device for controlling the oscillations of an ingot mold (1) in a continuous metal casting machine comprising a system (4) for generating oscillation motions of the ingot mold (1), along a guided trajectory, according to a predetermined motion law. According to the invention, the control member for the oscillation motions being adjusted for a preset primary speed law, the device comprises a means for the instantaneous correction of the displacement speed of the ingot mold, said speed being determined by said primary motion law so that the oscillation of the ingot mold during each cycle follows an optimum motion law adapted, at each moment, to the casting conditions.
