A method for a laparoscopic cholecystostomy and prostate or gallbladder ablation is disclosed wherein a bladder catheter (1) is inserted into the prostate or gallbladder then heated for a period sufficient to cause cauterization necrosis of the tissue lining of the prostate or gallbladder. Subsequently, the protate or gallbladder is allowed to drain and is then removed. An apparatus for performing the procedure and a procedure and apparatus for treatment of benign prostate hypertrophy are disclosed and include catheter (1), flexible tubing (10), rigid tubing (3) and distendable bladder (5).
