Described is a drive unit, in particular for vehicle windscreen wipers, with a shaft (14) projecting out from one end (15) of a bearing housing (13) and a cylindrical plain bearing (16) fitted inside the housing (13) close to the end (15). The plain bearing (16), bearing housing (13) and shaft (14) together define an annular gap (17). The invention calls for a sleeve (25) made of elastic plastic and fitted tightly against the bearing housing (13) to close off the annular gap (17) in front of the plain bearing (16). The end of the sleeve (25) remote from the bearing housing (13) has a radial sealing flange (30) which projects inwards to engage in an annular groove (31) in the shaft (14).
