The belt is so formed that it extends under the influence of the air pressure of the inflated tyre and of the elastic material of the tyre in a peripheral direction to an extent which corresponds to the flattening degree of the tyre in the ground contact surface area. Thereby, deformations of the belt and of the tyre material in the ground contact surface which increase the running resistance are eliminated.
