A method for making transparent zeolite film is provided by first heating a mixing solution consisting of silica source, metal molecular, water, and a SDA (structure-directing agent) to prepare a concentrated solution able to make zeolite, wherein the temperature for heating is below 100 DEG C and the step of heating is stopped before the formation of zeolite suspension. Thereafter, the solution able to make zeolite is dilute, and the solution able to make zeolite is then coated on a substrate, subsequently heating the coated substrate to 120 to 250 DEG C under less than saturated humidity to convert the coated precursor to zeolite film, wherein relative humidity is controlled between 30% and 98%. The packing of zeolite nanocrystals in the produced zeolite film may have preferred orientation and the film may show super-hydrophobic property. Moreover, the produced zeolite film is essentially made of closely packed zeolite nanocrystals, so it is transparent to the eye.
