A tool for extruding a composite section (26) - comprising a light-metal support section (28) and, forming part of its surface, a profile strip (20) or like strand of another metal that is passed through a feed channel (86) to a shape-forming cross-section of the tool and diverted into the direction of extrusion (x), whereby a rotating surface (78) which is curved at least in part in a circular manner about an axis (B) is foreseen for the profile strip that can be laid on it - is such that the rotatable surface (78) is on the one hand part of a shaping roll (76) and on the other hand is part of the shape-forming cross-section (66). The latter is aligned with the outer face (78) of the shaping roll (76) and is open to it. In addition the shape-forming cross-section (66) should be aligned radially with the outer face (78) of the shaping roll (76) at the highest position thereof.
