Provided is a composition which is capable of producing a film that is able to detect infrared light with high sensitivity when used in an infrared sensor or the like. Also provided are a film, an optical filter, a solid-state imaging element, and an infrared sensor. This composition contains: a colorant which transmits infrared light, while blocking visible light; a near-infrared absorbing dye; and a curable compound. The ratio of the minimum value A of the absorbance of this composition in the wavelength range of 400-700 nm to the maximum value B of the absorbance of this composition in the wavelength range of 1,400-1,500 nm, namely A/B is 4.5 or more; and if a film having a film thickness of 1 [mu]m is formed using this composition, the film has a local maximum value of the refractive index in a wavelength range of 800 nm or more.
