The present invention provides a polyimide precursor, a polyimide, and a manufacturing method of transparent polyimide film. The polyimide precursor has a structural unit originated from a diamine and a structural unit originated from an acid dianhydride. The polyimide precursor has a structural unit originated from 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl and a structural unit originated from 1,2,3,4-cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydride, and contains more than 70 mol% of structural units originated from 1,2,3,4-cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydride in all the structural units originated from acid dianhydride. When the polyimide precursor is imidized to form polyimide, the light transmittance is 5% or less at 308 nm, 70% or more at 400 nm, and the thermal expansion coefficient is 45 ppm/K or less.
