To elucidate the correlation of disease with the amount of amino acid stereoisomers and its change by the total analysis of the amino acid stereoisomers, and thereby to develop a novel disease diagnosis method and a novel disease diagnosis device with which the disease diagnosis method is performed. A device for analyzing a disease sample according to the invention comprises: means for separating and quantitatively determining amino acid stereoisomers in a biological material of a subject; means for calculating a pathological condition index value by substituting the amount of the amino acid stereoisomers into a discriminant; and means for outputting information about the pathological condition of said subject based on said pathological condition index value. Said discriminant may be: the pathological condition index value = (the measured value of the amino acid stereoisomers that correlate with said disease among the measured values in the biological material of said subject)/(a reference value in a biological material of a healthy subject), and the like. The method for analyzing a disease sample according to the invention comprises a step of measuring the amount of amino acid stereoisomers in a biological material of a subject, a step of calculating a pathological condition index value by substituting the amount of the amino acid stereoisomers into a discriminant, and the like.
