The present invention provides a floating virtual hologram display apparatus, which is comprised of a scanning mechanism, a diffractive optical element and a reconstruction light source thereof. When the light emitted by the reconstruction light source penetrated the diffractive optical element and was diffracted by the diffractive optical element, a hologram light spot will be displayed in front of the diffractive optical element. When the position of the hologram light spot was scanned and changed by the scanning mechanism, a floating virtual hologram will be displayed. By controlling the reconstruction light source to emit the light corresponding to the brightness, darkness and different colors of an image, the floating virtual hologram may display a variable virtual image.
