The present invention addresses the problem of providing an electrochemical device having superior storage characteristics at high temperatures and superior high voltage cycle characteristics and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution used therein. The present invention is an electrochemical device provided with a positive electrode, negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte solution that contains a nonaqueous solvent and an electrolyte salt. This electrochemical device is characterized by the nonaqueous solvent containing a fluorine-containing chain carbonate shown by RfOCOOR (wherein Rf is a C1-4 fluorine-containing alkyl group and R is a C1-4 alkyl group) and containing compounds shown by RfOH, ROH, and ROCOCl at a total of 5000 ppm to the fluorine-containing chain carbonate.
