A cylinder device (1) of this invention comprises: a cylinder (2); a piston (3), inserted in the cylinder (2) in a freely sliding manner; a rod (4) inserted in the cylinder (2) and coupled to the piston (3); a rod side chamber (5) and a piston side chamber (6) divided in the cylinder (2) by the piston (3); a tank(7) a first opening and closing valve (9) provided in the middle way of a first passage (8) for communicating the rod side chamber (5) and the piston side chamber (6); a second opening and closing valve (11) provided in the middle way of a second passage (10) for communicating the piston side chamber (6) and the tank (7); and a pump (12) supplying a liquid to the rod side chamber (5).
