The present disclosure presents a carbonator (1) for carbonating a beverage in a beverage container (2). The carbonator (1) comprises a beverage container compartment (75) that comprises a first portion (80) and a second portion (20) that is rotatably mounted to the first portion (80). The first portion (80) comprises a first groove (80g) and the second portion (20) comprises a second groove (20g). The carbonator (1) comprises a retaining ring (90) that is adapted to be arranged in the grooves (80g, 20g) to rotatably mount the second portion (20) to the first portion (80).
