The present invention provides a vaccine comprising a carbohydrate antigen conjugated to diphtheria toxin (DT) as a carrier protein, wherein the ratio of the number of carbohydrate number of antigen molecules for the carrier protein molecule 5: higher than 1. The method of inhibiting cancer cells by administering the novel saponin as an adjuvant and an effective amount of a vaccine as described herein are also described herein.
