A power cylinder for reciprocating engine system includes a piston configured to movement in the cylinder. The system and extends in a circumferential direction around the piston below the top land of the piston, includes a top groove adapted to support the upper ring having an inner circumferential surface. It is the upper ring is a space formed between the inner peripheral surface of a portion of the top ring and the upper groove while the groove is positioned in the top, at least one channel formed in the top land is configured to deliver the combustion gases to the space. The system, extending in the circumferential direction around the piston and along the axial axis of the piston comprises a groove bottom that is apart from the uppermost groove, the bottom groove is configured to support a lower ring, and does not have the oil drain.
