A method for the conversion of propylene is disclosed a linear pentene. The method may include the step of providing a C5- olefin-containing stream comprising hydrogen and the linear pentene, dienes, acetylene and cyclopentene in a catalytic distillation reactor system. At the same time the catalytic distillation reactor system, the acetylene and diene may be hydrogenated, C5- olefins-containing stream, and this can be fractional, a result, the side fraction comprises the top (overheads fraction), cyclopentene containing linear pentene outlet part and recovering the fraction (side draw fraction), and a bottom fraction (bottoms fraction). Then it is possible to supply in some embodiments, in order to convert a linear pentene with propylene, at least part of the top fraction to the metathesis reactor (metathesis reactor).
