본 발명은 뛰어난 물성을 갖는 활성탄을 제공하는 것이다. 본 발명은 활성 표면적이 80㎡/g 이상인 것에 요지를 갖는 활성탄이며, 상기 활성탄은 활성 탄소 섬유인 것, 상기 활성탄은 흡착용인 것이 바람직한 실시 형태이며, 또한 상기 활성탄은 115℃에서 24시간 건조시킨 상태의 활성탄의 질량 A와, 상기 활성탄을 온도 25℃, 상대습도 60%로 설정한 항온 항습기 내에서 24시간 유지한 후의 활성탄의 질량 B로부터 구해지는 수분 흡착률(((질량 B-질량 A)/질량 A)×100)이 40% 이상인 것도 바람직한 실시형태이다.
