A method and system for processing slag material is used to produce a by-product comprising an iron-rich and low-iron finished fine-finished products. The by-products may include iron and finished products and intermediate iron articles. The method and system is separated into two parts having different sizes by the classification material into a plurality of size groups before using the self-separation, at least one of the size groups susceptibility. The method and system may be to size classify the materials into a plurality of size groups having the phase of two or more using a magnetic separation to remove at least one of the size groups into portions (more than one phase), then one phase the average size of the remaining material is reduced prior to the subsequent (subsequent phase).
