The apparatus and method that allows for selective sound near null (null) for a microphone array is disclosed. An embodiment may take the form of an electronic device comprising a speaker and a microphone array. The microphone array may include a second microphone located on a second distance from the first microphone and a speaker located at a first distance from the speaker. First and second microphone is configured to receive the acoustic signal. The microphone array further comprises a filter with a complex vector (vector complex filter) coupled to the second microphone. Complex filter vector is applied to the output signal of the second microphone and generates the acoustic sensitivity pattern (acoustic sensitivity pattern) for the array to provide a sound channel in the location of the speakers.
