An apparatus is disclosed for the removal of tissue from the patient's body. The apparatus includes a tension member (elongate member) and the tissue removal member (tissue removal member) disposed in the lumen to form a lumen. The tissue removal member includes a flexible and formed of a plurality of strands St. shaft, a coil arranged in a helical way in the shaft circumference. The coil is substantially in contact with the shaft along the length of the shaft. The coil forms a separation distance between the protrusions extending in the lateral direction of the plurality of forming a projection, and each pair extending in a plurality of outwardly. Rotate the tissue removal member within said member, and allows the material to be transported through the lumen. The related method of manufacturing a tissue removal member is also disclosed.
