The mounting ring 16 for attaching the shield 18 of electrical cable 12 to the backshell 14 is provided. The attachment ring includes an annular body 26 comprising a heat recovery adult shape memory material. The body is configured to be at least partly extending in a periphery of the shield and the backshell fitting (24) for contacting the shield and fittings to hold on the fitting. The body includes a first segment 28 which includes an end portion 50 with a connecting member (58a). The body also comprises a first segment and separate from the second segment (30). And a second segment comprises an end 54 with a connection feature portion (60a). Connection of the second segment characteristic portion is engaged with each other and the connecting member of the first segment in order to connect together the first and second segments of the first and second segments to define at least a portion of the body length from the end.
