PURPOSE: An active type organic light emitting diode display apparatus and a display control method thereof are provided to display a low power mode screen or a high-definition mode screen according to user input, thereby displaying a screen in an appropriate mode according to an environment. CONSTITUTION: A display part(53) comprises an active type organic light emitting diode(21) and a cholesteric LCD(28). The cholesteric LCD is comprised of a first cholesteric liquid crystal colored layer(22), a second cholesteric liquid crystal colored layer(23), and a third cholesteric liquid crystal colored layer(24). A first transparent electrode film(25) is attached on the upper surface of the first cholesteric liquid crystal colored layer. A second transparent electrode film(26) is attached on the upper surface of the second cholesteric liquid crystal colored layer. A third transparent electrode film(27) is attached on the upper surface of the third cholesteric liquid crystal colored layer.
