The energy conversion device and a manufacturing method for converting energy between electrical and electromagnetic energy is disclosed. The energy conversion device comprises a wide bandgap semiconductor material having a first doped region and a second doped region formed in place by the heat energy beam. In one embodiment, the energy converter will work as a light-emitting device so as to generate electromagnetic radiation upon application of power. In the second embodiment, the energy converter will work as a photoelectric device for generating power when the application of the electromagnetic radiation. In the third embodiment, the energy conversion device is formed through the conversion of an insulating material. Optoelectronic devices may be combined solar heater and the liquid to provide heated liquid and upon power application of electromagnetic radiation.
