Exemplary embodiments are directed such tubes and headers are made of a suitable multi-layered aluminum alloy sheet material with these materials to be manufactured into a coolant transport tube, header and similar products that use a heat exchanger. The multi-layer metal plate is provided with a core layer of an aluminum alloy having a first side and a second side. Said first side having an intermediate layer comprising a Zn- aluminum alloy positioned between Zn- containing outer layers and the core layer. Electronegativity of the alloy of the outer layers is greater than that electronegativity of the alloy of the intermediate layer. Electronegativity of the intermediate layer alloy is preferably larger than that electronegativity of the core layer alloy. In this way the first side is the side that is exposed to the cooling water, and provides excellent corrosion resistance and abrasion resistance.
