From the surface of the object non-contact infrared (IR) thermometer is located in the internal clock of the heating element IR radiation sensor and a sensor that is attached to for measuring the temperature and includes a heat shield having an inner surface having a high coefficient of radiant heat. Electronic circuit for controlling the heating element is maintained close to the surface temperature to be expected of the object sensors and substantially shield temperature. IR radiation sensor is also thermally coupled to the reference temperature sensor. While preventing the additional shielding the stray radiation reaching the sensor, the optical system which is located in the front shield is focuses the thermal radiation from the object on the surface of the sensor. Signals from the IR and the reference sensor are used to calculate the surface temperature of the object.
