This disclosure and the mobile communication device, a wireless local area network: relates to a mobile communications device between access points (WLAN Wirelss Local Area Network) A method for hand-off. The mobile communication device being configured to access a database having service quality information for the access points in the WLAN, and a more processors configured to use the service quality information in the database to perform a handoff decision between the access points. In addition, the mobile communication device comprises a transceiver configured based on the handoff decisions performed by a processor to handoff the mobile communications device between the access points. Database may be located on a server connected to any other suitable position within the IP network, a mobile communication device, or the WLAN.
