A diesel fuel composition, and a method for removing the injector deposits in a diesel engine using the same are provided to reduce the generating rate of the deposits in a modern diesel engine fuel injector, effectively. A diesel fuel composition comprises a major amount of diesel fuel, a minor amount of at least one metal compound, and a minor amount of detergent additive. The detergent additive is used to remove or reduce injector deposits in a diesel engine operated by diesel fuel containing a minor amount of a metal-containing compound. The detergent additive comprises two kinds of compounds expressed by different chemical formulas. The diesel engine has a fuel injector having a plurality of spray-holes, wherein each of the spray-holes has an inlet and an outlet. The fuel injector has one or more of the following characteristics: a spray-hole which is tapered such that the inlet diameter is larger than the outlet diameter, a spray-hole having an outlet diameter of 0.10 mm or less, a spray-hole of which an inner edge of the inlet is rounded, six or more spray-holes, an operating tip temperature over 250°C.
