A nucleic acid probe for detection of Candida albicans is provided to detect and identify Candida albicans as a non-viral infectious microorganism in a biological sample through the hybridization with rRNA of Candida albicans. The nucleic acid probe for detection of Candida albicans contains the isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence selected from SEQ ID NO:398(TCAAGAACGAAAGTT, C. alic 006), SEQ ID NO:399(AAGGATTGACAGATT, C. alic 007) and SEQ ID NO:400(CATTAATCAAGAACG, C. alic 008), wherein the nucleic acid probe is derived from rRNA gene of Candida albicans. A composition comprises the nucleic acid probe for detection of Candida albicans containing the nucleic acid molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:398, SEQ ID NO:399 or SEQ ID NO:400. A method for detecting and identifying Candida albicans in a biological sample comprises the steps of: (a) isolating and concentrating a polynucleic acid in the biological sample; (b) amplifying the polynucleic acid with appropriate sense and anti-sense primer pair; (c) hybridizing the amplified polynucleic acid with the nucleic acid probe for detection of Aeromonas hydrophila containing the nucleic acid molecule comprising the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:398, SEQ ID NO:399 or SEQ ID NO:400; (d) detecting the hybrids; and (e) identifying the strains in the biological sample from the different hybridization signals.
