The inventive heterogeneous adsorbent comprises a core and at least one external continuous layer. The core of said adsorbent exhibits a volume adsorption capacity which is equal to or higher than 35 % of the volume of the adsorbent, and the layer exhibits a diffusion selectivity higher than 5. Said adsorbent is used for gas or liquids separation methods.
