PURPOSE: An aqueous polymeric binder composition is characterized by increasing wet strength of pre-moistened wipe and containing two ingredients. One ingredient is a water dispersive polymer capable of binding with fiber comprised of non-woven web. The other ingredient is an aqueous solution or a dispersion of polymer containing self-crosslinking monomer. CONSTITUTION: Packaged pre-moistened wet wipe contains non-woven fiber web bonded with a binder. The binder contains a mixture comprised of a water dispersive polymer binder and an aqueous solution or a dispersion of polymer containing a self-crosslinking monomer. The polymer of the polymer binder contains 1-11wt.% of the self-crosslinking monomer based on the total solid weight. An aqueous polymeric binder composition contains the water dispersive polymer binder capable of binding with fiber comprised of non-woven web and the aqueous solution or the dispersion of the polymer containing the self-crosslinking monomer.
