PURPOSE: A method for controlling the speed change of a clutch-to-clutch type automatic transmission is provided to improve the shift feeling by increasing the degree of precision, to reduce the damage on a clutch due to the friction heat by maintaining the minimum friction pressure during speed change control, and to easily process speed change control within a short time. CONSTITUTION: An engine speed sensor for measuring the speed of an engine(1), a turbine speed sensor for measuring the speed of the turbine in a torque converter(2), and an output shaft speed sensor for measuring the output speed of a clutch(4) are mounted. A hydraulic system is prepared to control the connection and disconnection of the clutch by the hydraulic power. The clutch is controlled by a proportional control solenoid valve.
