PURPOSE: A broadcasting program guide method and system are provided to select a broadcasting program corresponding to the taste and habit of a user to recommend the program. CONSTITUTION: A broadcasting program guide system includes a broadcasting meta data/program collecting unit(110) for collecting meta data information of program information of a broadcasting program from each channel, a broadcasting meta data database(120) for storing and managing the collected meta data information, a program archive database(130) for storing and managing contents of the collected broadcasting programs, and a user preference based program meta data and program contents presentation unit(140) for presenting the broadcasting program information based on user's preference information. The system further includes a user action monitoring unit(150) for monitoring a user's action with respect to the program and recording the action, a user action record analyzer(160) for analyzing the user's action to extract a user's preference value, and a user preference manager(170) for updating the user's preference using the extracted user preference value.
