PURPOSE: A shifting mode switching method in an automatic transmission vehicle is provided to change a shift pattern simply and to drive with the shift pattern reflecting an intention of a driver by manually establishing the shift pattern mode with a sliding switch. CONSTITUTION: An automatic transmission vehicle changes speed automatically by transmitting a shift mode selection signal to a shift control part. The method for switching a shifting mode comprises the steps of : receiving the shift mode selection signal according to the selection location of a sliding switch(301); checking whether the signal is a travel mode or not(303); deciding a shift line for generating an up-shift to low speed for driving economically in the traveling mode(305); and deciding a shift line for generating an up-shift to high speed for getting power in case of a power mode(307).
