PURPOSE: A drive pulley, and a wire saw equipage and a cutting method using the drive pulley are provided to enable a cutting device using wire saw to be much leaner and lighter, and to improve the capability thereof. CONSTITUTION: The drive equipment which becomes from the drive pulley(12) is attached to the prop supported by the base stand. The drive pulley consists of a stator(21) which is on a fixed axis, an annular rotor(22) prepared on the outer perimeter of the stator, and a ring shaped pulley part(29) prepared on the outer perimeter of the rotor. The wire saw(5) having a ring part(5a) sintered diamond abrasive particle in the wire rod such as a wire etc. is arranged and wound in a groove(28) formed in the outer perimeter of pulley part. The wire saw wound to the pulley part is driven with the rotating force of the rotor generated by applying electric power to the drive pulley, thus the wire saw cut the material via the contact between the wire saw and the cut material.
