PURPOSE: A dispersion controlling optical fiber and a method for manufacturing thereof are provided to control the value of dispersion and declination of dispersion at the same time and to reduce the cost for manufacturing the optical fiber for controlling dispersion. CONSTITUTION: The dispersion controlling optical fiber and the method for manufacturing thereof, a core layer(21), a ring core layer(22), a depressed cladding area(23) and a matched cladding area(24) are included. And the dispersion controlling optical fiber has the distribution of refraction of MC(Matched Cladding) type, the distribution of refraction of DC(Depressed Cladding) type, the distribution of refraction of RING type and the distribution of refraction of MC_RING type. The silica tube is arranged and the foreign substance is removed and the matched cladding layer(24) is formed in the first progress. In the second progress, a layer including the refraction ratio distribution is formed. In the third progress, the basic material of the dispersion controlling optical fiber is manufactured. In the fourth progress, the optical fiber is drawn out from the basic material of the dispersion controlling optical fiber.
