PURPOSE: To provide a method of correct, minimum invasion properties for the intracardiac administration of drugs into a cardiac muscle and an apparatus for the method. CONSTITUTION: A method for delivering cells to the heart of a patient comprises a process in which an apparatus for intracardiac drug administration formed from a catheter and a drug delivery apparatus for delivering cells are provided. The catheter has at least one position sensor with generates a signal corresponding to the position of the catheter. The catheter is inserted into a given place of one ventricle, and cells are delivered to the place by the drug delivery apparatus corresponding to a signal from the sensor. Typical cells to be delivered are either myoblasts or myocytes. These cells can be used as either an expression vector for promoting angiogenesis or for cell transplantation and fusion through myogenesis.
